What are your
values around birth
and postpartum?

Reproductive Justice and Personal Empowerment

Reproductive Justice is a term coined in 1994 by the Black Women’s Caucus at a national pro-choice conference. SisterSong defines Reproductive Justice as the human right to maintain personal bodily autonomy, have children, not have children, and parent the children we have in safe and sustainable communities.

As a doula who is rooted in RJ values, it is my goal to support you to make empowered decisions about your body, life, and future without coercion. I show up prepared to advocate for my clients needs. I ask questions to make sure my client feels in control.

“You were extremely attentive and supportive when it came to hearing out about my past traumas I experienced with previous pregnancies. I strongly feel like you really addressed all my fears and helped me feel prepared every step of the way. […] I feel like you allowed me to find my voice and take back all the traumatic experiences I had before.” —Edith

Whole Family Care

Whether you are a single parent or partnered, I am so excited to work with you and anyone who is part of your journey. I enjoy building trust with your loved ones and help them feel confident in supporting you. Whether you’ll have a partner or sibling with you, or perhaps an anxious mom or in-law, I am ready to hold space for them as well.

As a mother of two, I know involving older siblings in the birth process can be special and a formative process in the connection between siblings. If they are allowed in the birthing space, I am so happy to support them too!

Rest and Recovery

As your doula, it is my goal to set the tone for your postpartum time. Due to our fast paced culture, many folks have a hard time allowing themselves to rest, and even a harder time asking for help. I unpack this with clients by encouraging them to slow down and plan for their postpartum time. Having adequate support and rest in the first 40 days postpartum can have a lasting impact on one’s wellbeing and their parenting journey. If it is welcomed, I offer a variety of traditional remedies rooted primarily in Mexican Traditional Medicine which aligns closely with postpartum care traditions across many cultures. I also offer ceremonies as a way to support nervous system regulation and honor client’s experiences.

Overall, my intention is to create a space where you feel safe, seen, nurtured, warm, joyful, proud, and grounded throughout your journey.
